Inspired by its iconic address that unites city, lake and sky, this highly anticipated refashioning takes cues from Chicago’s bold architecture and modern design throughout its lobbies, culinary destinations and social spaces — furthering The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago as a beacon in the city.

The hotel’s contemporary renovation revels in the city’s heritage of architecture, forward-thinking design and industrial innovation. To establish a strong, core narrative, the design references both physical elements, like the building’s historic exterior, and the more abstract vitality and energy of the city. The focal point of the main lobby is the Flying Wave, a stunning floating sculpture made from four types of hand-blown glass in blue tones reminiscent of Lake Michigan. Soaring 19 foot quarter figured American Walnut “fins” cleverly divide the social lounge, lobby bar, and restaurant, while celebrating the verticality of the space and the skyscrapers in the view beyond.
