JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Purchasing Coordinator, you will use your organizational, people, and numbers skills to coordinate the furnishings procurement for several active high-end residential projects at one time. Working alongside the Purchasing Manager and Project Manager you will take a project from budgeting to installation by drawing on your appreciation of design and knowledge of vendors, budgeting, purchase order writing, expediting and tracking, installation, and project close out and reconciliation. You will apply your technology skills to manage procurement and specification programs such as Studio Designer and Specsources. You will develop your estimating skills by assisting in the research and development of furnishings budgets for new projects based on historical information. While this is not a design position, an appreciation of and sensitivity to our design approach is a key factor for success.
What you can expect in a Purchasing Coordinator Role at BAMO:
- Assist Purchasing Manager as follows:
- Convert furnishings design information into Specifications and/or Purchase Orders
- Obtain quotes and delivery estimates
- Track progress of furnishings production and follow through with unresolved items
- Coordinate receiving, shipping, handling, delivery, and installation of goods. Act as liaison with receiving, storage, freight, and delivery companies.
- Maintain the client hold and storage areas.
- Maintain vendor relations. Enter and maintain accurate information in purchasing/expediting software.
- Assist Residential Project Manager as follows:
- Coordinate purchase records with Accounting
- Coordinate project archives at project close-out
- Maintain Purchasing Department filing system
- Generate project reporting as required for monthly profit projections and project reconciliation
- Assist with Studio Designer software management
- Other administrative tasks to be assigned as needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of purchasing experience within an interior design firm, preferably with a focus on residential projects.
- Excellent organizational skills with proficiency in MS Word and Excel and the ability to learn new software programs.
- Excellent interpersonal, client service and communication skills.
- Take initiative and ownership of all tasks on projects.
- Meet deadlines and ensure accuracy of all work produced.
- Detail-oriented and thorough.
- Positive attitude, team-oriented, flexible, and productive.
- Strong initiative and ability to independently manage assigned tasks.
- Ability to occasionally lift product deliveries weighing up to 25 lbs.

- Salary range: $75,000 – $85,000
