PAMELA BABEY

Pamela Babey is a Founding Principal of BAMO.  With over 30 years of interior design experience, Pamela is widely recognized as a visionary in the world of luxury interior design.

Born in Brooklyn but raised in a century old adobe house in southern New Mexico. Pamela traveled extensively with her parents as they pursued their interest in American Indian artifacts, Mexican folk art, and European Antiques.  These early experiences were key to Pamela developing a love of art and antiques and ultimately led her to pursue a career in interior design.

After earning her degree in architecture, Pamela worked in the offices of Skidmore Owings & Merrill, James Steward Polshek, and The Pfister Partnership, where she served as Director of Design following the passing of Charles Pfister.  In 1991 Pamela co-founded BAMO with Pfister colleagues David Moulton, Gerry Jue, and Michael Booth.

With an eye for quality and resonance in detail, Pamela continues to oversee the design of spaces for some of the world’s most discerning clients.  Her projects include the Grand Hotel a Villa Feltrinelli on Lago di Garda, Italy, as well as Four Seasons Hotels in Milan, Bora Bora (which won three Gold Key Awards), and Carmelo, Uruguay (awarded Interior Design magazine’s “Best Resort Hotel”).  Pamela has also been the Principal-in-Charge for many private residences around the world.

Over the years Pamela has developed an extensive collection of unique resources, including numerous skilled artisans to carry out her vision.  From Venice to Hong Kong to Turkey, she travels in search of the unusual.  Understated elegance, richness in color and texture, delight, and comfort are signatures of Pamela’s award-winning designs.  Her work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Interior Design, Town & Country, Wallpaper, House & Garden and Robb Report.

Pamela earned her Bachelor of Architecture Degree from the University of California at Berkeley and serves on the Advisory Committee for the UC Extension Program in Interior Design and Architecture.   In 1996 she was inducted into Interior Design’s Hall of Fame.  Pamela and her fellow BAMO co-founders were inducted into Hospitality Design magazine’s Platinum Circle in 2010.
